I attended James Turrell: Large Holograms opening tonight in Chelsea and I was impressed with what I saw. Turrell’s Holographic Paintings don’t translate well in Photographs.
I tried making a short video to see if, by moving around the holographic paintings, I could capture some of the effects that are missing in the photos I [...]

At the Rubin Museum of Art and the Metropolitan
by on September 8, 2009 in Art in NYC
I did get to see the Mandala show I alluded to in my last post Mandalas at the Rubin Museum of Art in Chelsea and found the show difficult to focus on – I did make a comment in the past that Mandalas would be a good way to represent Social Networks, but I haven’t [...]
Mandalas at the Rubin Museum of Art in Chelsea
by on August 23, 2009 in Art in NYC
One of may favorite places to go in New York City is the Rubin Museum of Art – and a show just opened there on August 14th, at an opening I wanted to attend, but missed, of Mandalas (the Mandala exhibition is reviewed by the New York Times).
Mandalas aren’t made to sit there looking pretty. They’re [...]
Guest Post: The Art of the App – Kris Waldherr
by on August 17, 2009 in Art in NYC
Here’s a Guest Post to ArtNewYorkCity.com, one of the very few I’ve published – it’s by Kris Waldherr.
The Art of the App
Unless you’re versed in the programming languages C+ and Cocoa, creating an iPhone app is a mysterious process. Unlike websites, there are no Dreamweaver-like editors out there to construct your app with a click [...]
Perseus with the Head of Medusa Pencast at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
by on August 16, 2009 in Art in NYC
I experimented with “Pencasts” using the Livescribe Pulse Smart Pen that I purchased yesterday, partially so I could sketch and annotate my thoughts. The results are mixed, as the Smart Pen does what it was designed to do, well, but wasn’t really created to be an “Art Pen”.
VentureBeat has a review of the SmartPen and [...]
World Trade Center Revisited
by on August 15, 2009 in Art in NYC
I was here during 9/11 and I remember how New York suffered. I often pass by Ground Zero on my way into Manhatten from Brooklyn.
Ground Zero never looked as good to me as did, just now, as I passed by.
Here’s a picture of what I saw.
Wonder when the skyscrapers will return? I imagine, [...]
Interviewed at Affiliate Summit East 2009 (#ase09)
by on August 11, 2009 in Art in NYC
I was interviewed today at Affiliate Summit East 09 (#ase09) where I’m attending, as Press. Meanwhile, my Webmetricsguru.com blog is down due to faulty shared hosting arrangement at Dreamhost (which is turning out to be a nightmare).

Julie & Julia Film and After Dinner party
by on August 9, 2009 in Art in NYC
I saw Julie and Julia tonight in midtown and met several other film and food blog enthusiasts to see a movie that partly, takes place in New York City right after 9/11, and also 40 or 50 years earlier, in Paris, France.
I liked the movie a lot and met before and after it with a [...]
Deutsche Bank throws lifeline to New york Art
by on August 7, 2009 in Art in NYC
A piece of interesting news from Crain New York – Deutsche Bank throws lifeline to the arts – it’s a good thing someone is giving to the Arts, as financial cutbacks have affected almost everything.
Deutsche Bank is doling out $1.4 million worth of emergency grants to 14 arts organizations in New York City to help [...]
The Future of Content and “Working the Room” – being a “Digital DJ” in New York
by on August 5, 2009 in Art in NYC
According to Gary Vaynerchuk, whose keynote at the MediaBistro Career Circus at Comix Comedy Club in Manhattan, yesterday – the Future of Content creation and making a living is now requires “Working the Room” and being a “Digital DJ“; especially in New York City, where there are so many opportunities to connect.
I was at MediaBistro [...]
