Grifters – opens at Lazarides this week

Just when we thought street art was dead the buildings of the city are once again adorned with work worthy of getting on a tube just to go and have a look at. There’s plenty of it too courtesy of artists involved in the Lazarides ‘Grifters’ exhibition which opens in Rathbone Place later this week. Lazinc.com and Wallkandy‘s Flickr stream are the places to watch to find out locations and see the best pictures of the artists in action. On Tuesday I took a copy of Laz’s published locations and set off around town in the freezing weather to see what I could find. Pictures below:

Art Miami 2009.. VIP Opening Night! A Nice Big Crowd…

Art Miami.. VIP Opening Night! A Nice Big Crowd… So.. MAO and the MAO-ettes were doing the elite Miami Art Basel circuit party thing last night. Last night was the posh VIP opening of 2 of the long time fairs.. Art Miami, and Design Miami. We went to both of course. Both were buzzing.. with people… lots of people! So we guess the nights were successful for the art dealers….we shall see how today’s main fair opening goes! As for the Art Miami Fair.. we have to say.. we were all a bit disappointed by the galleries at this fair….

Ryan Spring Dooley’s “Represent”

“This work is attempting to represent the process of Street Art and its Gallery explanation by sketching on walls for an In gallery painting representing a Street Parade, mixing technical suggestions from the outside work together with the studio painting in an animated process. “Represent” is a work being prepared for the Urban Painting x mas show in Milan, from the17th to the 28th of Dicember, Spazio Concept, via Forcella, 7 The finished painting will be released together with a finished film documenting relative Gallery area street work inside the continued animation”
